A year ago, I liked a 16-year-old boy. I didn’t date him nor say I liked him for obvious reasons (I was freshly 19.)
I’ve been looking for girls to experiment with to explore my bisexuality and get over my attraction to men, and there’s this one friend I have online. Not going to lie, she’s hot. But… she’s 17 and a junior in high school. I’ll be 20 in April.
Do I risk ruining the friendship and possibly have something more if she says yes (and finally see if I like women) or get over it?
Our years of birth would be 2005 for me and 2007-08 for her.
I’ve heard 17 and 19 is alright though, and that’s the age I am now! Besides, it may not be anything serious.
Just a reminder that breaking the law isn’t ideal here. The laws that are there are there for a reason. My high school was full of instances where individuals who were seniors were with freshmans. And then the seniors turned 18, as time tends to do with people. They had to wait things out with some of the “pillars” (if you could call them that) of the kind of thing they were looking for. Where I live, there is no equivalent to the “Romeo and Juliet law”, the kind of law that might calibrate (perhaps overly so, or not in a good way) this kind of thing. Which some will say or point out is for the best. Whatever you do, I’d encourage you look up your laws to get an idea on this and how they map out the specifics. Can you settle for something that doesn’t clash with these? Yes? Good, settle for that. Some things can wait, my friend.
If you are over 18 you should be extremely careful about any romantic or especially sexual relationships with those under 18 as they could be construed as statutory rape. I know it makes a lot of otherwise innocent and positive relationships problematic for a certain spell during your life, but that’s the way it is, and it will pass quickly.

Might want to check the laws in your local jurisdiction. In the US, in some States this may be OK under Romeo and Juliet Laws (check your local laws if the whole “kill yourself from a misunderstanding” bit of the story is required). But, some States do not have such laws. No idea if/how this applies in other countries.

Most of Europe has consent age in the range 14-16. I think Cyprus is the outlier with 17. Most don’t have the equivalent of “Romeo and Juliet laws”.

The 2 year gap isn’t the issue it’s the power dynamic.
as long as its not sex related, since she still a minor. if it was 17 and 24, thats wierd, because the difference in age and experience in life. i known a former co-worker that dated 17years her senior, the family was not HAPPy, and it is pretty wierd.

That sounds really crazy. You can have sex at 15 where I live and that feels much saner.

same age pair , no matter how young, would not face any criminal charges. (one set of parents might file a lawsuit against the other parents, but that could happen at any age)
I noticed, but many people mention that 17 and 19 or 20 are illegal and no one is gonna convince me it’s not bonkers.
