Sanders IS in the leadership of the Democratic party.
He was the chair of the senate budget committee when the Democrats passed the IIJA, ARPA, and IRA. He also isn’t anywhere near the most progressive senator. If you actually watched any of the other people’s speeches, it’s basically the same shit. Elizabeth Warren says the same shit as Sanders every day.
The main reason he get spammed on the internet as much as he does (along with AOC) is because every time they starts trending with something critical of the Dems from the leftier side, bots and algo start boosting it.
