Thunderf00t is smart about physics, I liked his science videos, but I really stopped paying attention to him when he started doing gamergate stuff. Is he still whining about feminists, or has he gotten better?
A Catholic socialist, a Jewish anarchist, and a Muslim communist walk into a bar, and they make a podcast about engineering disasters: Well There’s Your Problem. It’s great for that intersection of people for whom the phrase “crimes against TERFs aren’t crimes” resonates and like listening to an engineer complain about low quality as-builts 2 hours into a 3 hour episode about 9/11
I was sold on the show when I found out that the episode about the Titanic was split into two parts, totaling around 5 and 1/2 hours. That’s partially because they spend a lot of time bullshitting, and partially because they go really in-depth about how and why structures fail
fintech that handles direct money services
A perfect description
Cashapp is also sort of an entirely online pseudo bank. There are places that let you deposit and withdraw cash, but they’re like two steps above Bitcoin ATMs
I do know people who have these fully online banks though. On its own, it’s a lot less convenient then just having an account with a local credit union where you can withdraw cash for free, and I really don’t like that services like Venmo and Cashapp and Zelle are overtaking just handing physical dollar bills to each other
I mean I use Cashapp, but I could also not use it and my life wouldn’t be much harder
Can’t your purchases be tied to you via credit/debit card number? I mean obviously you can use cash, but I don’t see a lot of people using cash
A dragon has been attacking trains going into and out of a mining city. The party has been hired to deal with it. They planned on taking an empty train out of the city, hoping to lure the dragon into a fight. I was thinking it would be cool, an epic dragon fight on a train. “Hey, this is a mining town. They have explosives right? Can we borrow some?” Roll for persuasion. DC20 persuasion check, passed.
I don’t have the math on me anymore, but I spent a couple minutes working out how much damage the dragon would take based on how much blasting powder they had, and how close the dragon was before it ignited it, and it was just enough damage to bring the dragon down to like 20 HP
I realized later on that I forgot to convert pounds to kilograms, so it should have still had closer to half its health, but whatever. The idea of a dragon basically killing itself by accidentally blowing up a train car full of blasting powder is sick as hell
I criticized the CCP on lemmy.ml and got called racist and got banned lmao
