Canadian tourists spent 20 billion dollars in the US economy in 2024.
Cutting that won’t go unnoticed.

I think the cpc is probably holding off on attack ads until after the leader is selected,
I’m already seeing anti-Carney ads from the conservatives.
Predictably, they’re labelling him Trump-style with a childish nickname “carbon tax Carney”…
PPC is fascist.
And their vote share is represented by not being statistically signifigant enough to even be mentioned on the chart.
It reminds me a lot of UK politics,
The Canadian system was initially modeled on the UK system (similar to most commonwealth countries)
It’s interesting to see how US politics are affecting Canadian vote shares. Is that a common thing or is it an isolated event given what’s going on in the US at the moment?
Allow me to illustrate with a quote from former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau:
“Living next to you is in some ways like sleeping with an elephant. No matter how friendly and even-tempered is the beast, if I can call it that, one is affected by every twitch and grunt,”
That was part of a speech he gave at the Washington press club in 1969.
I did a quick search for my city and "cardboard box " and (after the paid uline ads…) found 3 manufacturers of boxes right here. Plus several other sellers of boxes and other shipping materials.
I’m shocked at how much greenhouse stuff there is, actually.
I’ve found that there are multiple greenhouse lettuce growers in Alberta, of all places.
A surprising (and impressive) number of their Kirkland branded stuff is made in Canada, with a few even being product of Canada.
Yeah, it’s still an American head office, but they treat their employees well, and they’re pushing back against stuff like Trump’s anti DEI policies, so I’m willing to cut them a bit of slack.
I’m still buying made in Canada there, though. Or made not in the USA (got beans from Mexico, prosciutto from Italy and olives from Greece as part of my last shop there)
I didn’t go to the US when he was president the first time, and I had already decided I wasn’t going there back in November when the dumbasses re-elected him.
I doubt I am alone in that.
The tariffs and 51st state bullshit simply added many more people to the boycott.
If it is, then he needs to go after wall street.
The only reason those manufacturing jobs left the US is because the business owners (and their investors) demanded that labour costs be cut far below what American workers could live on.
But we all know that he won’t go after his fellow millionaires. Nor the billionaires he pretends to be.
