High yield savings account or the short term Treasury bonds, and good luck with this, I hope at the end you have enough for a car AND no need for a car so you just have money.

I dunno. I’m oldish, have a lot of kids, and do not worry whether they have kids or not. I had kids because I wanted to raise kids, best work I’ve ever done but that’s my life, the whole point is to raise them so they can have their own lives. My kids are grown (most of them) and most don’t want kids, that seems normal when there are so many people already. It’s their life to live, I would never try to interfere. But I’m also progressive not conservative.
The pro-natalist conservatives I am pretty sure just want a large and desperate underclass, and want women disadvantaged and more dependent on men. Some of them are also worried about decreasing population, or are racist and want white women to breed more white babies. They don’t all hate their kids they just really have a fetish for conformity. Need everyone to value what they do because they are not self confident enough to just do their own thing and let other people be themselves.
My dad was old New Orleans and oh my God the restaurants there are so good that when my brother was in school there he literally never cooked, never learned to cook, at all. They have such a ridiculous tradition of hospitality, absolutely top notch food, drink, and service.
Gumbo I make once in a while and it can make people cry, it’s so good, that can certainly be one of the most delicious things ever if you take your time with it, but my best memory of food there is the soft shell crab po boy with the legs hanging out of the sandwich.
I have a car and love it (Accord Sport 6 speed manual) but use the electric bike to commute, and let the kids take the car since they have a longer drive. I want to keep it when they move out though, it’s just such a great car and harder to find stick shift now.
But if it didn’t rain so much here, I do think I’d sell it to the kids (cheap since it’s paid off)
Motorcycle insurance here is like $100 a year but car insurance about $300 a MONTH, so make sure you budget for all those extra costs, fuel, insurance, maintenance.
