  • Because the Fediverse is the exclusive home to my confusing but entertaining long winded rants. Look, I bought a great keyboard, and when I get home, I just like typing. So I shut my brain off and just GO OFF on someone, or some situation. My fingers get to type and type and type on a keyboard which I can only describe as “pleasurable”.

Usually the rants are just me taking some minor thing I noticed or had happen to me and doing a deep dive rant. Just letting my inner monologue out into the world in text form. Or maybe an idea I have. I think my posts in /r/crazyideas are my favorite.

Here’s a taste of me trying to buy hot chocolate.

  • Holy shit! A sane rational Lemmy user in the /c/Fediverse community! Someone who sees the bigger picture, and isn’t just reacting to this small niche area of the internet.

Look, I love Lemmy, but I can’t sit by and act like just because something is a better service, and makes logical sense to use, that people will ever have even heard of it. That’s not how PEOPLE work. Yes, Lemmy is better than reddit. But no, Lemmy will not overtake reddit in usercount maybe in my lifetime. Unless reddit gets sold, and then plummets into death like myspace did. Then Lemmy wins by default, but it’s not the same thing.

And everyone (well, everyone but you I guess) most people on this community seems to miss all that.

  • People always try to claim I’m an asshole for saying democrats are just republicans other division.

They try to claim I’m saying bOtH SiDeS. No. I’m saying there aren’t two sides. There’s republicans, and republicans disguised as democrats. Just there to give the illusion of choice. You don’t have choice. You have corporate masters who own the media, who decide what news you see, they own the land, they own the companies. The republicans are there to be the ticketmaster, and take all the blame. The democrats are there to be the band performing at the local concert hall. To give the illusion of hope.

Well besides Pearl Jam, and maybe a handful of others, every band likes ticketmaster. They get to raise their prices, ticketmaster takes the heat, and the customers still pay. It’s like pro wrestling. The good guy and the bad guy are fake fighting in the ring as a showcase of the battle for all to see on a public stage. Then they go back to the dressing room, and they’re buddies. Once they’re out of public eye, the good guys and bad guys are all the same. Sharing family photos, having a beer. All part of the same system.

Just look at the country. Democrats take one step forward, three steps to the side, and then republicans push them back three steps. Gradually over the coarse of time republicans make advancements in their agenda, and it holds. All of the democrats advancements get erased a few years later. We’re still living with NIXONS signed bills. We don’t even have most of Obamas signed bills anymore.

And its because they were never meant to last. The democrats give hope, and a few years later after nobody is looking, republicans cancel it. Meanwhile republicans sign a bill and it’s there forever. And yet…no serious 3rd party has ever come about. There’s never been a 3rd party in my lifetime that anyone (who wasn’t an oblivious baffoon) ever thought had a serious shot at winning. It’s all the same system. Just like pro wrestlers are all working for the same system, politics is all the same rigged system. It’s all owned by corporations, and big money interests. Your vote means nothing. Regardless of if your guy won.

  • My father is the type to yell until he gets his way. He’s very stubborn, and doesn’t learn. Which is a shame, because my grandmother used to tell him “If you have to yell to be heard, then nobody wants to listen to what you have to say. Rather than raising your voice, maybe you should consider why it is that you need to in the first place.”

I got it. My dad temporarily got it, because he respects his mother, but he didn’t ultimately let it sink in. Once he’d get back home, it was back to yelling. Meanwhile at a crowded thanksgiving dinner, my grandma could tap her glasd and have a room of 70+ people from 5 different generations come to a silence in an instant because we all knew she had something to say.

I say all this to agree with you, and to add that sometimes being heard isn’t the right thing in that moment if you have nothing worth saying.

  • You sound like an insufferable bitch whom I’m glad I’m not assosiated with.

If you look at people as either “useful” or “useless”, that means you only see people for what their worth is to YOU.

I’m not here to advance you or your agenda. I’m not playing this undefined sport that you seemingly base your life around without mentioning which one it is.

That doesn’t make me, or anyone else useless. It just means we’re not here for your benefit. You claim you don’t think of yourself as the main character. I disagree. I think you DO think you’re the main character.

Here’s the reality check. There’s 8 billion humans on this planet. Every single one of them is the main character to their own story. There is no main story. Your story is no more more important than any of the other 8 billion stories. And empathy is the mental ability to understand that if something good happens to you, great. That’s good. And if something bad happens to you, and I mean truely awful, like your mom is killed by a drunk driver, then I as an emotionally mature person feel terrible for you. I would feel your pain with you. It doesn’t affect ME. I’ve never met your mom. But I’d feel terrible you went through that.

What YOU’RE saying is “I’M the most important. Fuck everybody else. I’M the only one who matters!”

Which in my eyes makes you weaker than any of the “weak willed women” you claim to despise. My 103 year old grandma before she passed raised an entire community since the 1920s. She’s stronger than you’ll ever be, all without raising her voice, or lifting a finger. She just told you exactly what you needed to hear whenever you neededto grow as a person. As far as I can see, you never had anybody like that in your life to challenge your mental state, and build you up as a person.
