Wow, really???!!!??? Gee willickers, I bet no one thought of that!

This post was directed at those who have chosen not to for whatever reason.

Like many, I have a few hundred loose ties on there. A couple months ago, one I hadn’t spoken to in more than a decade messages me because we are now in the same city, so we caught up and now see each other etc. Is your suggestion that everyone should spend however many hours messaging those loose ties just in case things change down the road? How many hours would you allocate to that?

“Excuse me, I know you’re trying to raise money for a children’s hospital and yes, facebook ads hit a substantially larger market than would be possible on an alternative service but have you considered, who cares about those kids when you can stick it to Zuckerberg?”

And yeah, a church of predominantly old people is just going to switch communication methods… Have you met old people?

Maybe, just think about the world from the perspective of those who don’t share your exact priorities or views?

Personally, I’ve got good friends from decades ago there, so I will on occasion use it to message folks.

Other groups: charities run a lot of stuff through there.

I know my mom’s church organizes through their facebook after requests from parishioners.

But more importantly, the key to winning this and most mass efforts is meeting people where they are instead of demanding they be 100% pure in all their choices.

Anytime, just passing on the goodness another good person shared with me!

The easiest one was switching my phone and computer’s browsers default search engines from google to Duckduckgo. It was so easy even my elderly parents managed it.

Google, one of the magnificent 7, earns much of its profits through search, an estimated $300 per person per year…

Also swapped out Tidal for Quboz. Both of those are an easy half grand ish out of America, and that’s before getting into foods and every other app I’ve switched.

Canadian here, my province asks that everyone get their yearly flu and covid vaccines, both of which are available for free in any pharmacy.
