That would be dumb to do though. If you can do your own root recursion it’s much better, as you’re not handing over your data to yet another third party The malware protection won’t be available but pihole will do most of that job

Note that DNS is unencrypted, so somebody can still packet capture it if they’re in your path, but that’s different than voluntarily handing it over
